The Importance Of Wedding Films: My Story

By September 20, 2017 No Comments

Isaac ♥︎ Annabelle

Isaac and I recently celebrated our 5 year anniversary.  And they have been the happiest years of my life!  My wedding day was beautiful, almost perfect.  I just wish I could relive that day and see it through someone else’s eyes . . .

Wedding Planning

Being that we were so young and still in school, my parents graciously paid for my wedding, and my mother, my sister, my wedding planner and myself spent hours on Pinterest, in Hobby Lobby, and around the kitchen table with glue guns!  We didn’t want to spend our budget on décor, so we DIY’ed it and splurged on dinner for our wedding guests and securing my photographer, Daniel Colvin.  He is a dream to work with and creates stunning pictures of your wedding!  On our first meeting to discuss our wedding, Daniel asked me if I was interested in hiring a videographer to film our wedding day and to edit the footage into a beautiful movie; he had a friend named Clay, who owned a wedding cinematography company.  Video AND photos didn’t feel like a necessity at the time, and I figured I would just ask a friend to stand in the back and film the ceremony with a camcorder, just so I could have a recording of our day.

Oops…

Well, I forgot to ask anyone to film the ceremony.  I now have only one short video of our entire wedding day: a short, low quality cell phone recording of our first dance.  And boy, do I treasure this little video!

Learn From My Mistake!

The irony is, a few years after my wedding, I met Daniel’s friend Clay, the owner of Reverent Wedding Films and was offered a position in the company!  I now watch beautiful wedding films everyday and wish that I also had a cinematic keepsake of my own.  While I LOVE my photos and I treasure the memories I have from our wedding, I wish I had given more thought to what 50-years-married Isaac + Annabelle would have wanted.  So I implore you, if you are a memory-treasurer like me, spend some time researching wedding cinematography!
